Christian Brothers and Arcadia Renew Rivalry Todd Grasley Aug 8, 2013

As New Jersey suffered through its most sweltering July in memory—3 weeks of 90 to 100 degree temperatures, stifling humidity and a relentless sun—even the Jersey tomatoes were hurting. But the Colts from Christian Brothers Academy kept their cool. With the hilly state meet course, Holmdel Park, practically at its doorstep, CBA has done some heavy-duty base work with one of the finest collection of distance runners the sport has seen. Heat or no heat, the Colts are fixed on winning the Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) championship for the second time in three years on the Portland Meadows 5K race course in Portland, Ore. NXN Boys Team Preview Stephen Underwood Nov 30, 2012

It’s fascinating how the history of Nike Cross Nationals has evolved in terms of comparing the girls’ and boys’ championships.  With the girls, you had a program in Fayetteville-Manlius which has won six titles in a row -- not to mention another in the same state, Saratoga Springs, which has claimed three consecutive runner-up finishes.  For the boys, however, there has not only never been a repeat champion, but no club has won two titles overall in the 8-year history of the event.  Eight different NXN boys’ championships, eight different winners.

Penn Preview: Boys Kyle Brazeil Apr 24, 2012

To some, winning a Penn Relays Gold Watch is a goal just as, and even sometimes moreso important than winning a national championship.  Watches are awarded only to the overall American winners in Championship of America events at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, kicking off for the 118th time next Thursday at Franklin Field.  In some cases, most notably the sprints, it is harder to win a spot on the top of the medal stand than it is to win a national championship.  This fact is because of the international draw the relays bring to Philly; currently, there are 62 schools registered that are not from the United States, with Jamaica the most represented foreign country with 32 individual schools.  For some, winning a watch means beating the world. While the main events remain the short relays, specifically the 4x100m and 4x400m, the distance relays and open events are available on an invite basis.  And with the the high quality meet comes a high caliber field in each of the 4 invitational distance events.  We broke down the competition to help you see where the action may take place.

LaVong makes himself at home with 2 US #1 Christopher Hunt Jan 9, 2010

Carlton LaVong is not shy. He’s not quiet and he’s hardly reserved. The Methacton (Pa.) senior is boisterous and fun and inviting. And as soon as he hits the runway he’s on fire. There’s no spotlight that shines on the jumpers alone so he’ll make one.

CBA bumps FM, Rosa claims course record Christopher Hunt Oct 10, 2009

NEW YORK – They were going to have to wait for a little while. It wasn’t the kind of race that anyone was going to eyeball from the finish and proclaim the winner.  So everyone waited, knowing that they had fought the good fight until Christian Brothers Academy was crowned winners of the first real cross country battle royal of the season.
