This one is shaping up to be an absolute battle. We have two athletes who have won past Meet of Champions shot put titles and eight athletes with marks over 40 feet this season!

Jessica Oji, a star junior out of Livingston HS, is the defending champion and current state leader, US No. 14, with a mark of 44-7.25, which won her the Group 4 state title for the second straight year.

Madison Stevens, the 2022 Meet of Champions winner, returns as the second seed out of Groups with her 41-09.75. That Group meet performance also moved the Columbia HS senior up to NJ No. 4 this season.

Previous to Oji's massive 44-7.25 season best at Groups she had throw 41-3.25 and owns three of the top ten New Jersey shot put marks this season. Steven's has thrown 41-9+ twice this season, Sectionals and Groups, and owns four of the top 10 New Jersey marks in 2024.

Also in the mix is Non-Public B champion Benay Nwajei of St. Benedict's Prep who broke 40 feet for the first time this season. She won the SJTCA Winter Meet #18 with a NJ No. 2 ranked mark of 42-5.25 on February 12th.

Maddie Hussey of Middletown South, the Group 3 champ, and NJ No. 9 this season has the fourth best mark out of Group Championships.

After finishing second in the Group 3 Championships Toms River South junior Julia Santos won the Eastern States Championships and is NJ No. 3 this season thanks to her PR throw of 42-1.25 which won the Shore Conference Championships back in January.

Also keep an eye on... Hannah Nuhfer of Delsea Regional NJ No. 5 at 41-3.5, Eve Segal of Ocean Township has a 40-8.75 for NJ No. 6, Catalina Holliday of Hamilton North won the Group 2 title at 40-8.5 for NJ No. 7.
