Cate DeSousa of Red Bank Catholic is leaning toward running this race over the 1600m, and if she does, she will be favored to win the first Meet of Champions title of her career after some near misses.
DeSousa is the class of the field with the NJ No. 1/US No. 14 time of 10:27.63 she ran to win the Non-Public A race. There is a very good chance that the top three finishers will be the same as last week's Non-Public A race.
Lindsay Hausman of Kent Place, also seeking her first M of C title after being very close in the past, has run a NJ No. 2 10:33.41 this season, and Leanna Johnston of Immaculate Heart Academy is NJ No. 3 with a 10:34.72.
Julia Scrudato of Montgomery is the only other runner in the state that has broken 10:50. She ran 10:47.61 to win Group 4.
