Senior Nathaniel Rayan of Scotch Plains-Fanwood, who clocked a NJ No. 3 all-time 7.14, the No. 1 time in the nation this season, at the Eastern States Championships this past Wednesday, has the meet record and state record in his crosshairs!
The meet record of 7.19 was set in 2012 by Jermaine Collier of Trenton, and the state record is the 7.07 run by Cory Poole of East Orange in 2012. Both records are well within Rayan's reach.
Rayan will have to beat a strong field to remain undefeated this season. His biggest challenger should be Yashahya Brown, a junior at Washington Twp. Brown won the Group 4 title in 7.36, which is NJ No. 2 / US No. 5 this season.
