Up until the middle of this week heading into the NJSIAA Meet of Champions the NJ No. 1 spot for the high jump was in a five-way tie at 6-06.
That finally changed when Damarion Potts of South Brunswick, the defending MOCs winner, made the 6-07 bar to win Eastern States Championships on March 1st.
Potts won last year's indoor MOCs with a career best height of 6-09. He will also be taking on the long jump showcase among the top seeds.
It is never won by past performances though, it is what you bring that day, and there is a full field of talented jumpers ready to step up for the win.
Now tied for NJ No. 2 clearing 6-06 this indoors is Rabae Smith of Linden who won the Group 4 title over Potts two weeks ago, Derrick Robinson of Cinnaminson, John Connors of Rumson-Fair Haven, and Isaiah Davenport of Pleasantville HS.
