NJ Future Stars: Violet Page & Gavin Schmitt

Each week we will choose two underclassmen to highlight as up-and-coming future stars of New Jersey cross country!

Violet Page - FR - Mountain Lakes

Violet Page has put together a great season so far with places of seventh or better in all five of her 5K races so far, all against varsity competition. All five of these races have also been on the Central Park of Morris County "Greystone" course.

Page has run under 19:30 twice so far, her course PR of 19:55 coming during a fifth-place finish in the NJAC Championships Small School Division behind multiple state champions. That also ranks as the 11th fastest time overall this season on the course.

The freshman star followed that course best with a sixth-place run at the Morris County Championships clocking 19:55.

Gavin Schmitt - SO - Christian Brothers Academy

Gavin Schmitt has been a mainstay in CBA's top five all season and has emerged as the leading sophomore in New Jersey thus far.

Schmitt has recorded multiple course PRs this season. His Bowdoin XC Classic performance year to year dropped by 36 seconds and he ran a 16:11 opener at Holmdel during the Shore A Divisional improving upon his previous course best of 16:54.

That 16:54 is the leading sophomore time at Holmdel Park this season by 28 seconds and ranks 11th overall

In October Schmitt ran to 7th in the Eastern States race at Manhattan with a time of 12:48 on the 2.5 mile layout. He most recently recorded a 15:11 at Ocean County Park to place fifth during the Shore Conference Championships, helping CBA set the course record for a team average of 15:01.
