NJ Future Stars: John Clark and Leah Starkey

We will choose one or two underclassmen to highlight as up-and-coming future stars each week!

John Clark- FR - Christian Brothers Academy

John Clark has recorded three race wins this season, two during freshmen class races and one in a novice race. All his race distances so far have been at a distance of two miles or just above.

Clark's opener was at Holmdel Park during the novice 2-mile race at Shore A North on September 10th, he won by 25 seconds over the field at 11:51, a race that featured a top nine entirely made up of freshmen and sophomore CBA teammates.

Three days later he won the freshman class race at Ocean County Park during the Battle at OCP clocking 10:38 with a six-second lead, you can watch that race here and the interview is embedded above.

A third victory came during the freshmen class race during the Magee Memorial meet at Greystone, a 2.2-mile course on which he ran 11:06 and defeated the field by 10 seconds.

All in all a successful start for the young Colt, will be interesting to see where else his opportunities will emerge for the rest of this fall season. Keep an eye on John Clark!

Starkey has picked up two impressive wins to start her high school cross-country journey, picking up a varsity 5K win during Shore B North Divisional Championships on September 18th and a 2-mile win during a freshman class race at Battle at Ocean County Park on September 13th.

Starkey's victory at B-North was by 29 seconds and helped lead her team to a fourth-place finish overall scoring 82 points in a tight battle with second and third scored Middletown North, 61 points, and Holmdel, 82 points.
