Day 1 Recap
The day started warm and sunny with the temperature at about 80 degrees warm by most standards, at least for distance runners, but a cool breeze and cloud covered cooled things off to near perfect conditions. Below you will a recap of each section.
Nonpublic B South Girls
*400H-Dejah McGee of Mater Dei was the first champion of the day, as she won the 400 meter hurdles in 1:06.90.
* 1600m-Sarah Quinn of Gill St. Bernards broke the section record with a winning time of 5:08.9.
* 400m-Jeanine Gill bounced back from her close second place in the 400 hurdles to win the 400 meter dash in a time of 59.67.
Field Events
The Pingry School and Mater Dei are locked in a tight race for the team point, 36 to 35.
Nonpublic B South Boys
*400H- The first boys race of the day was won by Avery Vella of The Pingry School in a time of 59.59.
*100m- Mike Marcano of Roselle Catholic won the 100 meters in 11.31 to move Roselle Catholic into second place in the team scoring but St. Josephs was the big point scorer going second, third and Forth.
1600m- Brian Steck of Gill St. Bernards won the 1600 in a time of 4:22.85. Liam Mullett second place finished for The Pingry School in the 1600 moved Pingry up to second in the team standings.
HJ - Chazz Patterson lead a strong charge by Trenton Catholic as they went first (6-4), second, and fourth to move up to first in the team scoring for the moment.
*The Pingry School leads Roselle Catholic 64 points to 53 points.
Group 1 South Girls
400H -Penns Grove started off with a pair of wins as Courtney Smith won decisively with a time of 1:04.93
100m - Faleesha Dowe in the 100 meter dash in a time of 12.56 seconds.
1600 - Was won by Courtney McDaniels of Haddon Height in a time of 5:24.23.
400m - Penns Grove continued their dominance on the track with a first, second and third place finish in the 400 meter dash, lead by Faleesha Dowe in 57.39 second, her second victory of the day.
Field Events
*Ceyenne Lutek and Jessica Williams of Schalick finished first and second in the Discus.
*Tiaja Harrold of Paulsboro won the javelin with a throw of 123ft.
At the end of competition for the day Penns Grove leads Haddon Heights 50 to 37 in the team points.
Group 1 South Boys
*400m - Sam Manigila started Penns Grove off with a win in the first event on the track in a winning time of 56.60 in the 400 meter hurdles.
*100m - Anthony Averett of Woodbury stole the show from there he won: the 100 meters in 10.91 seconds, the long jump with a leap of 23-03.75 and the high jump with a jump of 6-04.
*1600m - Haddon Township made moves in the team scoring by going first, second and fifth in the 1600 meters. The race started off with Grant Grouthusen of Haddon Township taking the race out in 62 seconds for the first 400 meters, the pace then slowed for the next 800 meters allowing some of the field to catch back up. The race picked back up with 400 meters to go as it became a battle between Grouthusen and teammate Tim Kenna with Grouthusen edging his teammate out down the home stretch with the final 400 covered in 61 seconds for a winning time of 4:25.16.
*400m - Colton Newsome of Pennsville won the 400 meter dash in 49.21.

Averetts strong performances lifted Woodbury to second place but Haddon Township leads with 42 points to Woodburys 38.
Group 2 South Girls
*400H - The 400 meter hurdles looked more like a dual meet between Buena and Haddonfield then the sectional meet as Buena finished first, third and fifth and Haddonfield finished second and fourth. Helena Leyrer of Buena won in a time of 1:01.54 and Olivia Blaber finished of Haddonfield finished second.
*100m - Shailah Williams of Pemberton edged out her teammate Nia Lawrence in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.49 seconds Shailah would come back later to win the 400 meter dash in 57.24 seconds.
*1600m - The 1600 meters was won by Samantha Budd in 5:13.18.
Field Events
After Buenas strong start in the 400 meter hurdles Haddonfield took the lead with 58 points to Buena 33 points at the end of the day.
Group 2 South Boys
*400H -Marquis Thomas won the 400 meter hurdles in 57.15 seconds.
*100m - Isacc Williams won the preliminaries of the 100 meter dash in 11.16 seconds, the fastest time of the preliminaries. He continued his dominance in finals with a winning time of 11.21 seconds, 0.13 over the second place finisher.
*1600m - Jacob Clark excited the crowd with his first lap of the 1600 meters in which he covered 400 meters in 57 seconds, leaving most spectators thinking he was running a 800 meter race. Clack may have slowed to a more typical 1600 meter pace but the pack never caught up and he made sure of it with a relaxed 64 second last 400. Jacobss finial time of 4:18.75 was 5 seconds faster than second place.
* 400m - Jacobs brother Issac Clack finished the day off on the track with a win in the 400 meter dash in a time of 49.21 seconds.
Field Events
*SP -Braheme Days Jr. had the biggest day of all the field athletes, he won the shot put with a throw of 64ft 5.75in, a new section record by more than 5ft and a new south all-group record.
*LJ - Kyree Johnson of Middle Township won the long jump with a leap of 22ft 1.25in.
*HJ- Sterling's Victor Ogbuehi won the high jump with a jump of 6ft 4in.
Willingboro leads Bridgeton 34 to 32 at days end.
With half the events still to be contested there are many more champions to be crowned and plenty of points to change or secure team standings.

* 400m-Jeanine Gill bounced back from her close second place in the 400 hurdles to win the 400 meter dash in a time of 59.67.
Field Events
* Triple Jump was won by Ashley Leyden of St. Josephs (Hammonton)
* Laura Catanzaro of Mater Dei won the discus with a throw of 94ft 4in and
* Karli Ernst of Our Lady of Mercy won the javelin with a throw of 109ft.

*400H - The 400 meter hurdles looked more like a dual meet between Buena and Haddonfield then the sectional meet as Buena finished first, third and fifth and Haddonfield finished second and fourth. Helena Leyrer of Buena won in a time of 1:01.54 and Olivia Blaber finished of Haddonfield finished second.
*100m - Shailah Williams of Pemberton edged out her teammate Nia Lawrence in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.49 seconds Shailah would come back later to win the 400 meter dash in 57.24 seconds.

* Woodstown's Alexa DiGregorio won the triple jump with a jump of 36ft 7.75in.

* Katie Johnston of Haddonfield won the javelin in 136ft 5in.
After Buenas strong start in the 400 meter hurdles Haddonfield took the lead with 58 points to Buena 33 points at the end of the day.
Group 2 South Boys
