The indoor track and field season has returned in a flash and MileSplit New Jersey is once again set to be your go to source for results and more all season long.
This article features links to opening week meets as well as any notes or coverage connected to them. Note the written highlights listed under various meets are meant as quick looks and will not feature every winner, for a deeper look take a look at the meet page elites and results.
If you have tips, videos, or photos to share with us involving elite performances from around the state, make sure to share them with us for potential posting! We can't be everywhere so if you have a video of a major performance we will gladly upload and tag the athlete accordingly as well as potentially feature the performance in an article.

This article will have highlights added to it throughout the week, some ranking notations may be outdated depending on when the highlight was written.
Ridge Winter Invitational
What an opening meet, check the full recap. Marquis Taylor of Woodbury didn't wait long to pop off impressive performances, the senior won the 200m at 22.14 and the 55m with a 6.46. Union Catholic's Taylor Aska also had a double win on the night leading the 400m at 55.36 and 200m at 24.12.
Taylor Cox of Union Catholic clocked a US No. 1 time of 7.76 in the 55m hurdles. Alex Pelov of Montville Twp ran an early state-leading 1600m time with his 4:17.38. Hillside's Yverson Alexandre won the 55m hurdles at 7.49. CBA's sprint squad also hit a 1:31.56 in the 4x200m and 3:26.68 in the 4x400m.
Monmouth U. TC Indoor Showcase #1
Capp DeSheplo of West Morris Central opened with a 59-4.5 mark in the shot put. NJ No. 1 ahead of the Saturday meets.
Julia Santos of Toms River South has the state-leading shot put mark heading into Saturday thanks to her mark of 42-1 at this meet.
Multiple early US No. 1 relays from this one. From the boys' meet Paramus Catholic clocked a 30.69 in the 4x55m shuttle, Chatham ran to 8:02.16 in the 4x800m, and Bernards won the DMR with a 10:33.74.
On the girls side Morris Hills won the SMR with a 4:24.34 and Roxbury the DMR at 12:51.16, both early US No. 1 times.
AC Armory CAL Meet #2-Track (Series 1)
Polar Bear: West Milford, Lakeland @ Passaic Valley
Raider Throwdown Shot Put Meet
Junior Antonio Giuliano of Watchung Hills led the boys meet with a 48-06.5. Angela Volkova of Hillsborough won the girls with a 36-11, currently N.J. No. 10.
STCA Season Opener at the Bubble
HCTCA Meet #1
Jaden Bryan of St. Peter's Prep cleared 6-02 in the high jump, and Micel Martinez of Union City cleared 5-02.
SJTCA #1
Two over 6-8 already! Jayden DeLeon of Highland Reg and Rolando Simpson of Rahway both cleared 6-08 with DeLeon credited with the head-to-head victory. Seven boys cleared 6-0 at this one.
Sanaa Thomas of Rahway cleared 5-02. Christopher Scott of Willingboro 6.59 in the 55m.
Foot Locker Nationals (XC)
Liliah Gordon of Northern Burlington ran to 23rd with a time of 18:33.5 improving upon her 2023 performance of 33rd and 18:49.8. Allison Lee of West Windsor Plainsboro North was 29th clocking in at 18:50.3.
Demarest Invitational
Delana Einreinhofer of Wallkill Valley won the 3000m with a U.S. No. 1 time of 10:00.88 and a minute and 11 second lead.
If you convert that to a 3200m it comes to a 10:45.16, which would be a major PR for the defending Group 1 state champion and is also faster pace than the current state lead of 10:48.36 held by Lawrenceville School sophomore Blair Bartlett.
Another interesting note from this meet, there were SIX girls who cleared the leading height of 5-0 in the high jump, five of them are now tied for NJ No. 7. The overall winner on jumps attempted was Tatiana Camilo of Woodbridge, who cleared 5-2 for NJ No. 3 earlier this week at Rebel Shot/Field Series.
Eatoniel Brown of Plainfield won the 300m with N.J. No. 1 time of 36.74, Garrett Walters of Monmouth Regional won the boys 3000m with an N.J. No. 1 time of 9:30.75.
Garfield HS High Jump/Shot Put Invitational #1
Jessica Oji of Livingston won the shot put launching 51-8 and now ranks U.S. No. 1 this season as well as N.J. No. 4 all-time! This is the first girls mark over 50 feet since 2018 when Shelby Bigsby of Montclair won Eastern States, and the best since Alyssa Wilson's national record mark of 57-5.5 in 2017.
Huisman Farm Opener: CBA and St. Rose (Polar Bear)
This was an outdoor polar bear meet. Joe Seib of St. Rose led the way with a mark of 60-8.5, his second mark over 60 feet this winter having already thrown 61-1.5 at the end of November. Which is N.J. No. 2 U.S. No. 3 on the Indoor + Polar Bear rankings.
Christian Brothers Academy teammates Marcus Blasucci, 57-11, Albert Yodakis, 57-4.5, and Cameron Feiler, 55-10 all rank inside the N.J. top ten Indoor + Polar Bear list as well. Feiler hit a 57-5.25 indoors during the Ridge Winter Invitational at the start of the week.
Jack O'Leary Lid Lifter Invitational
Julia Santos of Toms River South hit a mark of 40-9 to win the shot put and ranks N.J. No. 2 U.S. No. 4 after the week 1 action. West Morris Central's Capp Desheplo won the boys shot put throwing 56-3.25, and already ranks NJ No. 2 off his 59-4.5 from December 10th at Monmouth Showcase.
The boys 600m saw a quick field led by Adam Petitjean of Chatham running NJ No. 2 US No. 8 at 1:23.94. Cristian Cruz of Morris Hills was second at 1:23.96 NJ No. 3 US No. 9.
Jim Mitchell Invitational (NY)
There were a few New Jersey teams at this one. Owen Keating cleared an impressive early season height of 15-3 to win and ranks N.J. No. 1 U.S. No. 17. Isaiah Shockley of Pemberton Township won the 600m running 1:23.45, currently U.S. No. 6.
Freshman Casey Carney of Pope John XXIII was fourth in the girls 600m with a time of 1:37.41, currently U.S. No. 11.
Poreda Invitational

Paige Sheppard, right off a successful cross country season at Union Catholic, hit the track at Poreda and set a state record in the 1600m running 4:44.77. Blair Bartlett of Lawrenceville School wasn't far behind with her 4:51.81, both are now U.S. No. 1 and No. 2! More on this story is linked in the recap above.
Sofia Swindell of Lawrenceville School won the 55m and 55H running 7.24 and 8.33. Kayla Kerr of Pingry School clocked an 11:01.09 in the 3200m. Natalia Thompson of Union Catholic 18-7.5 to win the long jump. Daniel Tobia of Hillsborough ran 6.47 to win the 55m dash.
SJTCA #2
Jonathan Harris opened his season with a US No. 2 mark of 62-0.5, tying the Delsea Regional school record held by Jason Nwosu since the 2022 Group State Championships.
Winslow Township girls clocked a NJ No. 1 time of 3:58.12 in the 4x400m. Pennsauken girls won the 4x200m with a 1:42.54 NJ No. 1. Eastern Regional girls hold an early U.S. No. 1 in the SMR clocking 4:12.24.
Hannah Byrd-Leitner of Moorestown cleared 12-6 in the pole vault, which matches her indoor best height and is tied for U.S. No. 5. This past spring Byrd-Leitner won the outdoor Meet of Champions pole vault clearing 13-2.
Sophomore Quincy Pearson of North Brunswick took over the New Jersey state lead with a mark of 44-10.5 in the triple jump, currently tied for U.S. No. 20.
