Here are your key dates and information ahead of the NJSIAA indoor track and field season.
The key change for coaches to know heading into the NJSIAA State Sectional and Group Championships is the return to a prior format for alternates and competing athletes.
The "wild card" or bonus competitor format from last winter, which lowered the individual competitor amount per event to two but allowed for a third "bonus" athlete to be added to a limited number of events, is gone for all entry-level meets to the tournament.
The Sectional (Public) and Group (Non-Public) Championships will return to the usual "three competing - three alternates" entry format from years prior.

HOW TO ADVANCE
Sectionals to Groups
- Athletes must place top six in their event, all ties for sixth will advance.
Groups to Meet of Champions
- Automatic Advancement: Athletes must place top three in their event, all ties for third place will advance.
- Wild Card Advancement: After combining every Group Championship performance list, the top 12 performances that did not place in the top three in their event at their Group meet will advance to the Meet of Champions.
Meet of Champions Showcase Acceptance
- To qualify for the Long Jump, Triple Jump, 4x800m, and 200m Showcase events you must be amongst the top 24 declared entries based on season performance entered on the NJSIAA Meet of Champions registration page.
