Eastern State Championship Race

N.J. No. 1 / U.S. No. 2 ranked Christian Brothers Academy set the second-fastest team average all-time at Van Cortlandt during this race with a 12:41.0. They finished their scoring five by the eighth position totaling a dominating 25 points and split just 28.4 seconds between them! 

Joe Barrett repeated as Eastern States Champion running 12:20.7, Luke Hnatt was fourth at 12:43.2, Ryan Schmitt fifth 12:44.5, Gavin Schmitt seventh 12:47.5, and Alex Mastroly 8th 12:49.1. 

N.J. No. 2 ranked Haddonfield Memorial was second as a team in this race scoring 176 points, tiebreaking with Boston College High School on extra runners. Haddonfield averaged 13:22 and split 28 seconds between their top five. They were led by junior Luke Andresen finishing 21st clocking 13.09.6.  

N.J. No. 7 ranked St. Peter's Prep finished seventh as a team scoring 264 points, 10+35+43+77+99 (143+155), averaging 13:39 and splitting 56 seconds amongst their top five. Senior Tommy O'Brien led the team in 10th running 12:52.3.

Competing individually with a solid finish was Brenden McMahon of Ridge HS, who crossed the finish at 12:55.1 finishing 12th.

Varsity A

The Ocean City boys won Varsity A, scoring 70 points to outpace second-placed St. Andrews' 90-point total. Ocean City averaged 13:47.0, with a 39.2-second split between their top five. 

They were led by junior Erik Preisner finishing in sixth running 13:29.

Varsity B

Peddie School scored eighth as a team in Varsity B averaging 15:07 and splitting 1:24. They were led by senior Baker Pott finishing 15th with a time of 14:16.4. 

Ocean Township and Rumson-Fair Haven also finished 10th and 11th in this division.

The Williamstown HS boys scored 10th as a team in Varsity D led by Dominic Burgio with a time of 13:45.9. Leonia HS was 14th led by Calvin Daou.

Bergen Catholic ran to 14th in Varsity E, they were led by Dylan Brown running 14:51.3.

Hackensack HS finished seventh as a team scoring 201 points and averaging 14:48.7. They were led by junior Michael McGinnity who finished second in the Varsity F with a time of 13:19.6.

Freshmen Race Highlights

All freshmen races were 2400m.

Liam Angley of St. Peter's Prep won the Freshmen C race with a time of 8:02.9, which not only led all New Jersey freshmen but led the entire meet at the 2400m distance. St. Peter's Prep finished third as a team. Bergen Catholic was also seventh as a team in Freshmen C.

Justin Ventimiglia of Christian Brothers Academy won the Freshmen D race clocking 8:12.90 and ranks fifth among all 2400m times at the meet. CBA won the Freshmen D race as a team averaging 8:42.6 splitting 43.7.

Leonia finished fifth as a team in Varsity A with an average of 10:51.3.

Intermediate Highlights

Community MS won the Intermediate, middle school, race as a team with 17 points. They were led by Kanata Arai who finished fourth overall running 8:56.9 over the 1.5 mile course.
