Park Ridge Emerson Co-op & Randolph Lead Brett Taylor Invite

The Brett Taylor Invitational saw a good turnout of teams and great competition on Saturday at Darlington Park in Mahwah, NJ. 

Boys Varsity A - Results

Lamarr Olive of Clifton was the only sub-17 athlete in this race winning the Varsity A with a 16:48. His teammate's Patrick DuBois and Alexandro Ralli scored Clifton three inside the top 10, finishing fifth and eighth, but it wasn't enough to battle back against Hackensack's upfront attack for the team victory.

Hackensack's senior Dylan Guarquila and sophomore Michael McGinnity brought home second and third for a key role powering their team to a 46 to 65 victory over Clifton. Fair Lawn third with 74 and Passaic County Tech fourth scoring 80. 

Joining Guarquila and McGinnity on that winning sheet were Elwin Llguisupa, 10th, Evan McGinnity, 14th, and Salomon Jacome, 17th, to close out their scoring five. Hackensack displacer Allan Morales also running well adding to their lead by finishing ahead of Clifton's fourth and fifth scorer. 

Boys Varsity B - Results

Fastest time of the meet came from the Varsity B when Patrick Kurtz of Pascack Valley clocked a 16:46 after battling ahead of Park Ridge/Emerson Co-op (PRE) senior Patrick Tallman who was second with 16:49.

William O'Donovan of PRE crossed third at 17:16, Pascack Valley's Marcus Koshy fourth at 17:26, and closing the top five was Caldwell's Benjamin Lattimer 17:35. 

This was a great race between PRE and Pascack Valley, PRE taking the win 50 to 54, averaging 18:08. Joining Tallman and O'Donovan on the victory was Alex Talmazan in 10th, Michael Martinez in 17th, and Nick Milo 18th. Their displacers Josh Pena and James Moran in 20th and 28th. Pena finished three spots ahead of Pascack Valley's fifth which in a tight battle like this is a major effort. 

In the overall meet merge PRE also led as a team with 92 points, scoring ahead of Pascack Valley and Hackensack. 

Girls Varsity A - Results

Union City senior Liz Fis won the Varsity A race with a huge lead at 20:31, the fastest time of the combined meet by nine seconds. Freshmen Jaidyn Young of Randolph ran to second at 21:12 and Clifton's senior Olivia Green third with a 21:56 battling Randolph's April Kusnier to the line, Kusnier fourth at 21:57. 

That's two for Randolph already in the top five and they carried that momentum forward with a strong pack finish closing out their scoring line at 27 for the win.

Alba Saguillo Leppanen, a freshman, was sixth clocked at 22:26, senior Morgan Behar seventh at 22:28, and Keili Semler eighth at 22:31. 

Randolph displacers Olivia Myerson and Lily Colasante were also in the top-15 running 11th and 13th! This all won Randolph the race by large margin over the field scoring 27 points and averaging 22:06 with a 1:19 split one through five. 

Randolph also led the overall meet merge with 56 points! 

Girls Varsity B - Results

In the Varsity B Maya Van Horn, a junior out of Morris County Tech, earned the victory with a time of 20:40. Pope John XXIII answered back with second and third place finishes by Katelyn Nolan and Julia Ireland at 20:44 and 20:58. Ema Hercules of Gill St. Bernard's fourth with a 21:03. 

That strong finish up front helped Pope John XXIII power their way to a hard fought victory over Morris County Tech 41 to 56. Behind Nolan and Ireland on the winning score sheet was Evey Austin in fifth, Gwendolyn O'Hearn sixth, and Audrey Higgins 33rd. Brianna Brady their only displacer running 34th. 

Pope John was also second in the overall merge report.

More Highlights

Victor Mielnik of Passaic County Tech won the freshmen boys A ran, 1.6 miles, running 8:44. Seton Hall Prep earned the team win in that race with 17 points!

Ethan Gray of Indian Hills won the boys freshmen B race, 2900m, with a 9:18. His team earning the win with 23 points.

Freshmen girls saw Isabella Fungaroli of Immaculate Heart Academy earn the win, 2900m, running 11:05. IHA earned the team win scoring 17 points.
