POLL: Vote for NJ Performance of the Week (Final Week!)


We got this out late this week so polls will close Friday at midnight! Vote on the people's choice for New Jersey track and field's athlete of the week. Poll write-ups by Jim Lambert. This is the final poll of the outdoor 2022 season! Thanks for everyone who voted all spring supporting these athletes.

Previous Outdoor 2022 Winners

Week of June 6 - 12 (Groups)

Clemmie Lilley of Rumson won the 400 in 56.57, placed third in the 800 in 2:17.88, ran on the winning 4x100, and anchored the victorious 4x400 at the Group 2 Championships. (A hard fought voting battle here! 38% of the vote, 2,400 in total! The Metuchen crew brought out over 2,000 votes for Molly Malague as well.)

Kyle Rakitis of Kingsway repeated as Group 4 champ in the 1600m by running 4:09.12, the fastest time of all the Group meets. (Rakitis brought in 35% of the vote just ahead of the 34% by Brandon Sinclair! Both were right around 3,500 votes in total!)

Week of May 30 - June 5 (Sectionals)

Azariah Christopher of East Orange ran a NJ No. 4 14.41, the fastest 100 hurdle time in all the sectional meets, to finish first at the NJ. Sec. 1 Group 4 meet. Brought in 25% of the vote!

Damarion Potts won the HJ with NJ No. 1 6-8, won LJ at 23-1.5, second in TJ at 45-2 for CJG4! Absolute battle in the boys poll this week, Potts won with 44% of the vote and over 8K votes in total. 

Week of May 23 - 29

Brooke'Lyn Drakeford of Piscataway won the 400 hurdles in an NJ No. 3 1:02.72, won the 200m dash in 25.33, and captured the 400 in 56.91 to help lead the Chiefs to the GMC title. (38.6% of the vote, 500 total!)

Sahil Sheth of South Brunswick ran a meet record and NJ No. 6 9:09.02 to win the 3200 at the GMC Championships. (29.2% of the vote! Tough battle with Fabian Gonzalez who had 27.2%!)

Week of May 16 - 22

Shea Burke of Pt Boro wins Shore Conference at 14.45 NJ No. 3. (Received 24% of the total votes!)

Kam Coleman won the triple jump with a school record and NJ No. 3 46-0.75 and was second in the 110m hurdles in 14.79 to help CBA win its 12th straight Shore Conference title. (38% of the total votes!)

Week of May 9 - 15

Olivia Grace of Ridgewood soared a NJ No. 2 18-2.25 to win the long jump at the Bergen County Championships (2,955 votes! Over 50% of the total submitted. Ridgewood doesn't play when it comes to polls.)

Greg McQueen of Elizabeth won the 100m in a NJ No. 5 10.76, the 200m in 21.98, and the 400m in a NJ No. 2 48.02 at the Union County Conference Championships (616 votes, 44% of the total!)

Week of May 2 - 8

Abigail Dennis of Old Tappan ran a NJ No.1 14.40 in the 100m hurdles at the Big North Championships (39.02% of the votes!)

Justin Penny of Lenape ran a NJ No. 2 1:54.60 at the SJTCA Elite Meet (34.56% of the votes!)

Week of April 18 - 24 Results

Lilly Shapiro of Colts Neck ran 2:06.94, tied for No. 11 in state history and No. 5 in the nation this season, at the Colts Neck Invitational.

Benjamin Shue of Bergen Catholic broke the national freshman record in the discus with a throw of 192-3 at the Bergen County Relays

Tyler Zawatski of Freehold Township threw the javelin a NJ No. 1 and US No. 12 197-4 at the Blue Devil Classic

Week of April 11 - 17 Poll Results

Zoe Goldberg of Eastern launched the javelin 136-7, the top throw in the state this season, at the West Deptford Relays (36.94% of the vote!)

Damarion Potts of South Brunswick cleared a NJ No. 1 6-6 in the high jump, and went 22-2.50 in the long jump, and 44-2 in the triple jump at the East Brunswick Invitational (56.29% of the vote!)

Week of April 4 - 10 Poll Results

Lucia Rabolli split 2:10.9 to bring Ridgewood across second in the SMR at the Arcadia Invitational in Calif. in 4:01.80, No. in state history. (53,618 VOTES MY GOODNESS! 48.32% in a major battle with Taylor Cox and Celine Jada-Brown check out their nominations in the link above as well.)

Cameron Campbell of Union Catholic took over the state lead in the long jump with a 22-5 at the NJCTC Relays

Opening Weekend Poll Results

Madison Stevens of Columbia threw 41-4.75 in the shot put and 110-5 in the discus at the Mountie Invitational. (1,412 votes! 26.88% of all cast, Rhianna Scott's fanbase also right there with 1,388 votes total)

Joseph Oduro of South Plainfield soared 21-6.50 in the long jump and 44-3 in the triple jump at the Rocket Relays. (528 votes! 27.24% of all votes cast)
