
Here are the girls MileSplit New Jersey All-State teams for the 2018 indoor track and field season. These were chosen with consideration to the full season of work, head to head match-ups, as well as emphasis on titles won. We will also being opening these teams up individually to all New Jersey high school athletes: NJSIAA, prep, and club.
For the first through third teams an athlete will be listed once for their best event, freshmen who make the first three teams will still be listed as part of the freshmen team.
55 Meter Dash

Sydney Hawkins dominated her way through state season winning her Sectional, Group, and the Meet of Champions. Her season best was a 7.02 at MOCs which moved her into the top ten all-time for the Bubble. Freshmen Lauren Princz showed she should be a name to remember over the next few seasons, earned second at MOCs. Aaliyah Vandergrift finished third at MOCs and won the Non-Public A championship, all three of these girls return next year.
55 Meter Hurdles
Grace O'Shea peaked her season at the right time! Her state season started with a PR of 8.60, she dropped that to 8.30 by Groups, and ran 8.08 to win the Meet of Champions. Her season closed at New Balance Nationals with an en route 55m hurdles time of 8.06 as well for sixth in Emerging Elite.
200 Meter Dash

Shauntae Nelson took on a talented 200m field at the Meet of Champions and the junior earned the win with room to spare running 25.13. She returns next year to defend the title.
400 Meter Dash

Kaira Brown has shown the potential to be a Meet of Champions winner for a while now and she earned the title this winter. Her season best was a 56.35 for third in the Emerging Elite at New Balance Nationals Indoor.
800 Meter Run

Talk about a strong event for New Jersey! We had two sophomores earn All-American at New Balance Nationals Indoor. Athing Mu won the National Championship event running 2:06.59! That is the state sophomore record and ranks third in state indoor history. This was the second time she went under 2:07 this season having also ran 2:06.88 at the Armory Youth Championships in February.
Then we have another super talent Victoria Vanriele who won her second straight indoor Meet of Champions title and finished third at NBNI with a PR time of 2:08.31. That also makes it into the history books moving her up to fifth all-time in state history. If having two sophomores at that level isn't enough we also have freshman Ryan Davi who placed second at MOCs and 22nd at Nationals.
1600 Meter Run

Madison Brand dropped her indoor 1600m PR to a 4:56.96 to win her first Meet of Champions title. Abbey Loveys had a very strong season winning the Group 4 title and placing second at MOCs. Caroline O'Sullivan had the fastest time of the season winning Group 3 title against Brand with a 4:55.94.
3200 Meter Run

Nicole Vanasse showed signs of greatness to come this past fall and that momentum continued into the winter season. The sophomore won her first Meet of Champions title with an amazing 30 second PR of 10:34.49 over Monica and Isabel Hebner who had very impressive seasons themselves. All three girls rank top 25 in the Nation.
High Jump

Jenna Rogers' first indoor season saw plenty of success including her first Meet of Champions title. Her season best of 5-11 ranks tied for second all-time in state history. Fellow sophomore Tierra Hooker cleared 5-10 tied for fourth in state history and won Group 3. Tiffany Baustisa won her second straight indoor Non-Public A title and was third at the Meet of Champions. She PR'd at NBNI with a 5-07 clearance to win the Emerging Elite division.
Pole Vault

A year ago Haley Horvath's best vault was 10-00, she improved that all the way to 12-06 this season to win the Meet of Champions. Ashley Preston was second at the Meet of Champions and led the state this season at 12-07. Melissa was third at MOCs and ranked NJ#2 at 12-06.25.
Shot Put

Shelby Bigsby won 13 straight meets this indoor season including the Meet of Champions. She finished sixth at New Balance Nationals with All-American status and led the US for 2018 with her mark of 50-02 to win Eastern States Championships. Zyra Thomas came off a second place finish at MOCs to win the New Balance Nationals Indoor Championship with a PR of 47-05.75, US#3 this season. Emma Vasen ranked US#10 at 45.3.5 and won the Group 2 state tile this season.
4x400 Meter Relay
Union Catholic won their fourth straight indoor Meet of Champions 4x400m title. They finished 2018 ranked NJ#2 with a 3:56.48 from New Balance Nationals Indoor. Woodbridge was second at the Meet of Champions running 3:59.52 and are NJ#3 with a season best of 3:56.50. Winslow Twp didn't run their squad at MOCs but led the state with their wicked 3:54.99 to win the high school race at the Millrose Games.
4x800 Meter Relay
Ridge showed they are an absolute powerhouse in the 4x800m winning their second straight New Balance Nationals Indoor Championship running a time of 9:08.07. That was coming off their defense of the indoor Meet of Champions title.
