Abbey Robisky of Union Catholic wasted no time making a sudden impact on the high school track scene when she smashed the New Jersey freshman record in the girls' 600-meter run in her debut on Monday night.
Robisky, a huge age-group star in middle school, burned a 1:33.66 to win the 3-lap race at the Ridge Winter Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, breaking the state freshman record of 1:34.31, which was set by the legendary Olivia Baker of Columbia in 2010. Robisky's 1:33.66 is also No. 8 in NJ history and No. 8 all-time for a freshman in U.S. high school history.
The splits for Robisky were 28.79, 32.83, and she closed in 32.04.
