Group 2

2019 Group 2 Leaders - Sectional Merge Leaders

2018 Results - Defending Champs: 400m - Victoria Vanriele, 800m - Victoria Vanriele, 1600m - Amanda Stone, 100H - Te'Seanna Harris, 400H - Meredith Updike, HJ - Jenna Rogers, PV - Sydney Woods, J - Brielle Smith. Defending Relay Champs: 4x100m - Newton, 4x400m - Governor Livingston, 4x800m - River Dell. Team Champions: Sparta.

There is some serious star power in this Group. First off, two-time outdoor Meet of Champions winner Victoria Vanriele is the top seed in the 400m and 800m entering the meet. She ran a state leading 2:06.68 and a NJ#2 54.33 at Union County Championships and won both events once again last week at Sectionals. The 2:07.17 Group 2 meet record set in 2014 by Corrine Myers is in obvious jeopardy.

Some other records in possible danger? Well the All-Group javelin record of 152-09 from 2012 by Katie Johnston of Haddonfield is certainly one. Defending Meet of Champions winner and state record holder Brielle Smith of Oakcrest leads us into this Group with her 168-6. In the discus Abby Nonnenberg of Wall, our current state leader at 137-06, is so close to the Group 2 record of 139-11.

Just look to the relay records as well. In the 4x100m Rumson-Fair Haven has already gone faster with their 48.62 from the Husky Relays back in April, they need to go under 48.76 to break Pemberton's 2013 record. That 9:18.31 4x800m record by Mountain Lakes in 2017? The Haddonfield girls ran 9:18.37 back in April.

Other Athletes to Watch: There are some awesome battles waiting for us in the field. The high jump sees Carly Tarentino of A L Johnson at 5-06.5, State Record holder Jenna Rogers who cleared 6-00.75 in 2017 and has a 5-06 height this season,  Madison Cappuccio at 5-05.

Triple jump brings two 36+ jumpers with Nilya Rhoomes and Khoryn Bannis. Glen Rock has two girls leading the way in the long jump with Rachel Turanchik at 18-0.75 and Katie O'Connell 17-11.25.

Riley Larsen of Pt. Pleasant Boro has been rising up in the pole vault currently ranked third at 12-01.

The defending 100H champ Te'Seanna Harris of Camden is back again, she'll have her hands full with Meredith Updike of Cinnaminson both under 14.60 this season.

The 3200m could be a can't miss race, Samantha Ragenklint of Monmouth Regional has gone 10:56.12 this season, Emily Levonas of Holmdel and Claire Chapeau not far behind. The 1600m is wide open with Lauren Wagner, Emma McGill, Payton Weiner, Sarah Naticchia, defending champ Amanda Stone and a whole bunch more in great position to win.

Jada Ellis of Manchester Township could have a day in the sprints leading the 100m and ranked third out of Sectionals in the 200m.

On the team front Rumson-Fair Haven and Haddonfield square off out front with Glen Rock, Delsea, Voorhees, and Holmdel up top as well. Rumson-Fair Haven last won in 2008 and Haddonfield had two straight in 2014 and 2015.
