"10 Questions With..." Kristen Traub

"10 Questions With..." Kristen Traub

It only seems as though Kristen Traub has been around forever. The senior from the Eastern Christian School came onto the NJ scene as a much herald freshman and has over her 4 years of Cross Country and 3 of Track lived up to the advance notice. With the exception of a loss to Pennsylvania standout Angel Piccirillo ( 2 time Penn Relays Mile Champ) at the PTXC3 Invite at Kutztown, Kristen has fashioned quite a season for herself so far.

Kristen was kind enough to take the time recently to answer our "10 Questions"

NJR: To what do you attribute your success this year?

KT: Hard Summer training, going on long runs and doing cross training forpar a sprint triathlon, that I competed in with my sister in July. Wepar would do half mile swims in the lake where we live and 12 mile bikepar rides. This was in addition to my regular training runs.par

NJR: Describe your training routine for the last 10 days

KT: 1 long run, 1 track workout, 1 race day, 3 easy runs and two days off

NJR: What are your personal goals for this XC season?

KT: I would like to get top 7 in the Meet of Champions, and also beat my personal bests at Garrett and Holmdel. I would like to lead my team with a top 8 finish at either Nike or Footlocker Regionals.

NJR: Do you have a pre- race superstition or routine?

KT: The night before big races I like to paint my nails a different color depending on the race. Also before I go to bed the night before I like to visualize the course in my head and determine what I'm going to do and when is a good time to make my move.

NJR: Running or Basketball?

KT: Running. Just because growing up it was my sport that I was best at, where basketball is still very competitive to me, however it's still more of a hobby. I have played basketball since I was 7 and still have fun playing.

NJR: Best movie you seen this year

KT: Tangled

NJR: What do you do when you're not running

KT: When I'm not running I like to go shopping, watch movies and go out with my friends.

NJR: What is your favorite post- race meal

KT: Steak

NJR: What are you looking for in a college?

KT: A coach that could take me to the next level in running, and a competitive team.

NJR: Who is the one person you would most like to meet, and why?

KT: Steve Prefantane, because he has a lot of records, and I look up to him as a runner. He could probably teach me a lot about this sport. I also ran Pre's Trail while I was out in Oregon competing.

Thank you Kristen and best of Success the rest of the way
