Sianni Wynn, one of the top track and field recruits in the country, made her eagerly awaited college decision on Friday night.
Wynn, the electryfying sprint sensation at Pennsauken High, announced in front of a big crowd gathered in her school's gym that she will attend the University of Florida.
Wynn's decision came down to three schools - Florida, Tennessee, and Ohio State.
The Gators are getting one of NJ's biggest track and field stars of all-time!!
There aren't many sprinters in U.S. high school history that can match the numbers that the legendary Wynn has thrown down during her high school years, which includes one national title, 11 Meet of Champions titles, and 4 state records!!!
In a career filled with jaw-dropping performances, the biggest highlight of Wynn's career came last June at the New Balance Nationals at Franklin Field in Philadelphia when she got a rocket start and blasted an 11.29 to win her first national title. Wynn defeated defending champion and meet record holder Lisa Raye of West Warwick (R.I.), 2nd in 11.38.
The 11.29 by Wynn was a wind-legal PR and is No. 2 all-time on the state's all-time wind-legal list behind the 11.23 that Naylah Jones of Timber Creek at the 2024 Group 3 Championships.
Wynn always runs her best on the biggest stages!
Last March, she produced a double for the ages at the indoor Meet of Champions last March when she blew up the track at Ocean Breeze by breaking two state records to become the all-time winningest athlete in the 57-year history of the meet.
Wynn blasted a state record 6.73, No. 6 in U.S. history, to win the 55-meter dash for the third straight year and came back to shatter her own state record in the 200, which she won for the third straight year in a sizzling 23.31, No. 12 in U.S. history at the time!
Wynn put an exclamation point on the best indoor sprint season in NJ history when she placed 2nd in the 60 dash at the Nike National Championships in New York in 7.29 to break her own NJ record of 7.32 that she ran three times during the season. Wynn's 7.29 is No. 14 on the World Under-20 list and made her the ninth fastest New Jersey sprinter ever on any level.
ALL SHE DOES IS WYNN
Wynn followed up her historic indoor campaign with an epic outdoor season!
At the Meet of Champions in June, Wynn left lots of smoke on the oval when she torched her home track by running the fastest times in meet history in both the 100 and 200!!
First, Wynn won the 100 in a wind-aided 11.25 (+2.4), No. 2 all-time in all conditions, after an 11.30 wind-legal time in the trials. She came back later to win the half-lapper in a wind-legal 23.20 (-0.4)!!! That's the second fastest time in state history behind the 22.96 that 4-time Olympic gold medalist and world record holder Sydney McLaughlin Levrone ran at the 2017 Non-Public A Championships.
Wynn broke the meet record in the 100 of 11.36 that she ran in 2024, and took down the 200 record of 23.24 that Wendy Vereen of Trenton ran in 1983!
There's more!!!
By winning those two races, remained undefeated in Meet of Champions races and raised her career total to 11 Meet of Champions titles, which ties the state record!!!! Wynn shares the state record of 11 M of C titles with Olivia Baker of Columbia and McLaughlin-Levrone.
"I always like to come out and run my best at the biggest meets and put on a show, especially on my home track,'' said Wynn, who has won 6 indoor M of C titles and 5 outdoors. "And being tied now with Sydney and Olivia is an such an honor to be alongside two of the best ever.''
While her primary focus is on the 100 and 200, Wynn also ran a PR of 52.80, No. 6 in NJ history, when she won the 400 in the Burlington County Scholastic League Liberty Division competition last May at Pennsauken!
Congrats, Sianni!!!!
