As expected, the Shore Coaches Invitational provided some real thrills and helped clarify where a lot of teams are at this symbolic mid point of the season. The Top 5 remains intact with a little jockying in the 3-5 slots. West Windsor-Plainsboro So. ran very well in the Championship Race, but ran into the buzz saw that is CBA this year. They are, however, a very good team. Don Bosco slips to 3rd position essentially off of choosing not to race at the SCI. Movement was much more pronounced in the 6-10 spots as Haddonfield at #6 appears for the first time this season. Nick Baker's Dawgs stormed to 4th in the Champinship Race with the 4th lowest NJ avg. on the day. Pope John XXIII moves up to 7th off of a strong 5th place, also in the Championship Race. Freehold Twp., which did not run at Holmdel or anywhere else, slips to #10.

As with their male counterparts at the top spot, Voorhees continues to impress. The young Lady Vikings took the Championship Race at Shore Coaches with 40 points, but had a challenge from Mt. Saint Dominc Academy. which jumps to the 2nd spot this week. The MSDA squad has been up and down in the early going, but seems to have righted themselves as they scored 43 points with a 19:57 avg. If you look at the results, they ran very closely girl for girl 1 thru 5 vs Voorhees. Hillsborough slips to the 3rd slot. The rest of the Top Ten saw some major changes as a total of 4 teams appear this week that were not ranked a week ago. Rumson-Fair Haven, winner of the "D" Race debuts in the 5th position. This team put their 5 scorers into the top 20 and had the #7 avg. for the meet. After a week's absence, Hunterdon Central moves back into the rankings landing in the #9 spot. Bernards, showing team strength behind star Dana Giordano, moves into the Top Ten after being on the cusp last week.
