2025 Girls Sophomore Top Finishers
Leah Starkey of Ocean Township, who won the sophomore and freshmen races at this event over the past two seasons, is entered to return for the junior race on Friday. Last year at this meet she set the Ocean County Park course record with a 17:06! She eventually followed that up with the current course record of 16:44 at the Shore Conference Championships. Starkey is the defending NJSIAA Meet of Champions winner and made it all the way to finish seventh at Brooks XC Championships last fall. This will be her season opener.
2025 Boys Sophomore Top Finishers
Liam Angley of St. Peter's Prep, who won the sophomore race last year running 16:25, and was third as a freshman at the Battle at OCP in 2024, is entered to compete in the junior race. This will be his season opener. Finished 24th at Group State Championships last fall.
2025 Girls Junior Top Finishers
Alexandra Klein of Shore Regional, who won the junior girls division last fall at 17:46, is entered to return for the senior race. She opened her season at Run the Night last Friday winning the 3200m mile senior race with a time of 10:51.13.
2025 Boys Junior Top Finishers
Jack O'Leary of Toms River South, who won the junior race last fall at 15:50 is entered to return for the senior division this year. O'Leary went on to win the Ocean County title at this very course with a 15:35 in 2025 and proceeded to set a course PR at Shore Conference Championships running sixth t 15:22. He was sixth as a sophomore in 2024 at this meet running 17:12, and seventh as a freshman on the 2 mile course at 11:33.
Last year's freshmen winners are not entered to return.
While last year's frosh division winners, Dominic Moscatello of Christian Brothers Academy and Emily Leyton of Voorhees, are entered to return in 2026 we can take a look at the next runner up.
On the boys side, Conan Poerner of Cherry Hill East ran 10:44 for second last fall, he's back to compete as a sophomore. For the girls, Reese O'Reilly of Middletown South was runner up in 2025 running 12:54.
