Megan Venables, Highlands Regional High School, Blackwood, NJ won the Suffolk County Officials Invitational at Sunken Meadows in a reported 18:25 (officially 18:25.40). Venables, running in preparation for the Footlocker Northeast Regional ran shoulder to shoulder for the entire race with Kelsey Margey of Harborfields High School in Greenlawn, NY but Margey caught her spikes on the turf and went down with 100 meters left in the race. Margey finished second (18:43.65).
Megan's time is a meet record, surpassing her own record of 18:53.2 set last year. The course record of 17:45 was set last year in the Footlocker race by Aisling Cuffe.
