Bernards Rocks DMR, Jackson Breaks State Record At Easterns

Results

The Bernards boys distance medley relay squad torched the track by burning the 10th fastest time in New Jersey indoor history, and Winslow's Jasmine Jackson broke a state freshman record at the 89th Eastern States Championships on Tuesday night at the Nike Track and Field Center in the New York Armory.

The foursome of seniors John Richardson, Cyrus Mehrrostami, Michael Dooley, and junior Brody Watt all dropped big PR's as they combined to throw down a winning time of 10:08.72, the second fastest time in the country this season.

Richardson led off with a 3:05.87 1,200 carry, Mehrrostami ran 51.94 on his 400 leg, Dooley followed with a 1:58.50 for 800, and Watt ripped a 4:12.42 on the anchor.

The 10:08.72 by Bernards is the second-fastest time in the nation this season behind the 10:05.21 that Christian Brothers Academy ran last month at the Ott Center in Philadelphia. NJ now owns four of the top 6 DMR times in the country this season.

Bernards, which shattered is school record of 10:12.1 that was set in 1983, will be rocking the DMR again at the New Balance Nationals in Boston later this month.
