Freehold Twp Wins Big at Osprey XC High School Invite

Freehold Township and Egg Harbor Township earned the girls' and boys' team wins respectively during Friday's Osprey XC High School Invite.

Theresa Albertson of Eastern Regional, 18:25 to win the girls' varsity, and Joshua Santiago of Old Bridge, 15:40 to win the boys' varsity, were the top individuals.

Santiago's 15:40 is among the fastest performances we've seen in the current layout for the meet. In recent years only Sebastien Reed 15:17 (2019), Billy Clewell 15:20 (2021), and Nicholas Loffredo 15:30 (2021) have run quicker.

Boys Top 10 Finishers


The Freehold Twp girls showed up with an average of 19:21 and a low score of 40 points (2+3+6+10+19). The next best was Old Bridge with a total of 111 points. 

Freehold Twp was led by senior Leah Rutledge in second at 18:40.

Sophomore Natalie Briggs was third overall at 18:59, junior Caroline Cox sixth 19:25, senior Sophia Briggs 11th 19:36, and closing out their scoring five was sophomore June Sprunger 21st 20:12. Displacers Milana Sirna and Gabriella Salmeri were 41st and 52nd.

Girls Top 10 Finishers


The boys' team score was an exciting battle between Egg Harbor Twp and Eastern Regional, Egg Harbor Twp with the victory 106 to 117 in the points.

Egg Harbor Twp's success was focused on their tight pack racing, just 30 seconds between their scoring five matched with their 17:19 average. 

Matthew Reed finished 13th at 17:04, Ben Gettings 19th 17:12, Daniel Svec 25th 17:23, Aaron Wagner 29th 17:28, and their fifth man Matthew McDevitt 17:34. Displaer Stephen Slusarski was 63rd. 

This race featured a young squad with two sophomores and only one senior in their top five, foreshadowing a strong future ahead.
