On Tuesday at Holmdel Park the US No. 2, NJ No. 1 ranked Christian Brothers Academy boys showcased a strong season opener to win their A-North Divisional Championship meet.
With a perfect score of 15 points and finishing first through sixth as a team the CBA Colts averaged a scorching early season pace of 16:03.7, splitting just 32 seconds, between their top five.
CBA Runs Eighth All-Time Holmdel Team Average
That team average ranks eighth on the all-time single race list for the historic Holmdel Park 5K course. A layout that annually plays host to the Shore Coaches Invitational, NJSIAA Group State Championships, and Meet of Champions.

The charge was led by Joe Barrett's winning time of 15:41. This is the sixth time he's run sub-16 here, and he has a course PR of 15:21 from his 2023 Non-Public A State Championships win which is tied for 10th all-time at Holmdel individually.
From there the rest of the top five finishers all rolled through 16:14 or less including seniors Alex Mastroly and Ryan Schmitt, sophomore Gavin Schmitt, and junior Luke Hnatt. Their displacers included sixth place Ryan Collins at 16:34 and 11th place Thomas Field at 17:06.
Last fall we saw CBA run three of the top four all-time single race averages at Holmdel including breaking their course record with a 15:51.8 to win Non-Public A State Championships. How low could this talented squad trim that down to?

During the Novice 2 Mile race, CBA also saw four freshmen and one sophomore run under 12:30, while securing the top nine finishing positions.
Manalapan Girls Show Early Strength, Abbott Debuts For New Team
With a score of 33 and a team average of 20:29, the preseason No. 17 ranked Manalapan girls won the A-North Divisional taking down No. 4 Freehold Township, 39 points, and No. 14 Colts Neck, 49 points.
Manalapan saw returning seniors Sadie Honig and Alivia Schweibinz finish 1-2 clocking 19:29 and 19:33 respectively. Not far behind in third was their new transfer and junior Jessica Abbott running 19:42.
Madalyn Bacharde, 11th, and Chloe Li, 16th, closed up their top five scorers. Kaitlyn Uhl, 17th, and Anhelina Korenovska, 23rd, their displacers.
