Covering the need to know ahead of the 2023 NJSIAA State Sectional Championships set to take place at four locations across New Jersey this Saturday, October 28th. 

Below you'll find the meet schedules, locations, how to advance, and more. NJ MileSplit will have representatives at the Sectional locations with varying coverage of videos and photos.

Coaching Note:

At the sectional championships, public schools may alter their roster the day of the meet up to seven runners. However, all those names must be already entered in the team roster on MileSplit. No day of the Meet name additions will be allowed. Any changes must be done no less than 20 minutes before the start of your sectional race. The form will be in your packet. No Entries will be processed after the event closes.

How to Advance


Advancement

First 5 teams plus the first 15 finishers in each Group in each Section will qualify for the State Group Championships. 

Awards

At the Sectional level a trophy and ten certificates to the first place team in each Group. Medals to the top 10 finishers in each Group.

  • 10:00am - Girls Non-Public B
  • 10:30am - Boys Group 4
  • 11:00am - Boys Non-Public B

Advancement to MOCs

  • Team Advancement
  • Auto: All six (6) Group Champions will auto qualify.
  • Wild Card: All non-qualifying teams will be merged - top eight (8) schools after the merge by team score will advance to the Meet of Champions.
  • Individuals Advancement
  • Auto: Top ten (10) individual finishers in each Group auto qualify.
  • Wild Card: Next thirty (30) individuals with the fastest times across all Groups combined who have not already qualified via their teams or a top ten individual finish.

Awards

A trophy and ten certificates to the first place team in each Group. Medals to the top 10 individuals in each Group.

A trophy to the individual first place finisher and medals to the second through 20th place individual finishers. Seven medals to the first, second, and third place teams.
