Einreinhofer of Wallkill Valley, Connell and Watt of Bernards, and the Bernards boys and Mendham girls squads all showed great early season pace during the opening weekend staple event Roxbury XC Invitational!
Delana Einreinhofer had found success and state titles on the track and now enters the fray on the trails winning her debut cross country race during the Roxbury XC Invitational.
The Wallkill Valley junior clocked an 18:51.56 victory over the 5K course leading the "Fastest 4" race, as well as the meet overall, by six seconds.
Six seconds back was Mendham sophomore Kate Shaw running 18:57.86 and leading a strong day for the Mendham squad overall.

In the girls meet merge, 21 teams deep, Mendham led the way with 78 points and an average of 20:39.36, outpacing Kent Place School with 88 points and Chatham with 138. Running top five for Mendham in the merge was Shaw, Sophia Draxler, Marisa House, Greta Hecker, and Lily Raudabaugh.
Also running sub-19 was Caroline Himstreet of Chatham, who finished third in the "Fastest 4" division with an 18:59.69. Ashley Crane of Sparta, 19:54.48, and Madison Gargiulo of Roxbury, 19:54.57, were also top five overall.
On the boys side the No. 11 ranked Bernards squad showcased a strong opener leading the combined boys merge with an 85 point total averaging 16:36.05, leading Chatham, 112 pts 16:59 average, and Morris Knolls, 131 pts 17:09.74 average.
The big factor for Bernards? How about that 1-2 impressive finish by Ben Connell and Brody Watt?!
Connell, a senior, led the "Fastest 4" race and meet overall with his time of 15:35.24 and Watt, a sophomore, was about 11 seconds back in second running 15:46.54. The two Bernards stars were the only sub-16 performances of the meet.
Also running in the Bernards top five was John Richardson, Cody King, and Sean Griffin.
Nicholas Falcone of Morris Hills ran third overall with a time of 16:00.79, Finn Valli of Chatham fourth at 16:03.09, and Luke Schagelin of Morris Knolls fifth 16:07.15.
