Revised Order of Events for NJSIAA Group State Championships

With the move of Group Championships to a one day, Saturday, meet the NJSIAA has released an updated events schedule. The news broke Thursday that the Group Championships would combine days due to the ongoing air quality situation.


Order of Events

Saturday, June 10th, 2023

9:30am Start Time - Both Sites

Order of Groups Will Still Be Large, Small, and then Parochial


Track Events

Girls will still run first in all running events, followed by boys.

Note that the 100m and 100m/110m Hurdles will not have prelims. Since they are now finals on time the heats will see the fastest seeded athletes run last.

  • 3200 Meters
  • 100 Meters (NO TRIALS - FINAL ON TIME)
  • 800 Meters
  • 400 Meter Hurdles
  • 4x100 Meter Relay
  • 400 Meters
  • 100 Meter Girls Hurdle (NO TRIALS - FINAL ON TIME)
  • 110 Meter Boys Hurdle (NO TRIALS - FINAL ON TIME) 
  • 4x800 Meter Relay
  • 200 Meters
  • 1600 Meters
  • 4x400 Meter Relay


Field Events

There will be NO finals in any field events.

Each athlete will be given three attempts in throwing and horizontal jumping events.

Opening Heights


The opening heights for Non-Public A and B will be determined by the meet director in conjunction with the meet and or field referee(s), depending on the information supplied by the coaches. They will also determine how many double elevations, if any, there will be in any event.

  • All Field events that were supposed to be contested on Friday will be held first thing on Saturday. Once the Friday field events are complete then we will roll right into the scheduled Saturday events. 
  • For the throws and the vertical jumps the first venue that opens will hold the third group that was supposed to throw/jump on Friday. Once the second venue opens then the events originally scheduled for Saturday will begin. 
  • When it comes to the horizontal jumps each sand pit will host 6 consecutive groups. We will follow the exact order written in the original order as if it was a 2 day meet. The three first groups will be the groups that were supposed to jump on Friday, and then once the last group that was supposed to jump on Friday finishes we will then roll right into the Saturday order.
  • The only change that may be made to the pole vault and high jump would be if more than 30 jumpers exist in a group the first increment may be a double increment. That decision will be made by meet management. Every other increment after will be a single of 6 inches or 2 inches respectively.
