Akshay Vadul of Edison Commits To Georgetown


Akshay Vadul of Edison, one of the state's most coveted track and field recruits, announced his college commitment on Sunday.

The winner is Georgetown University!!

Vadul has put together a sensational distance running career.

This past fall, he won the GMC title, the North Jersey, Section 2 Group 4 championship, placed second at the State Group 4 Championships in 15:48, and finished eighth at the Meet of Champions in 15:47.   

Vadul's track season this winter has been equally as impressive.

Yesterday, he dropped indoor PR's in both the 1,600 (4:14.51) and the 3,200 (9:18.34) when he won the first two state titles of his career at the State Group 4 Championships at the Bennett Center in Toms River. Earlier this season, he ran a PR of 1:53.98 in the 800, the second fastest time in the state this season.   

Last spring, Vadul ran PR's of 4:13.91 in the mile, and 9:12.49 in the 3,200.

"I am thrilled to announce that I have chosen Georgetown University as my home for the next four years,'' Vadul wrote on Instagram.
