One Classy Move at Mercer County Race

Titusville - In one of the classiest moves possible in a XC/T&F race the Rosa brothers, Jim and Joe were closing in on the finish line with Jonathan Squeri not far behind.  The Rosa's looked at each other, looked behind them and saw Squeri closing furiously.  The Rosa's made a spontaneous decision to show Jon Squeri great respect and give him a moment he so richly deserves for the season he's  having. Squeri charged past for the win in 16:06, with the Rosa's finishing 2-3.  The twins times were Joe at 16:07 and James in 16:08. West Windsor-Plainsboro No. took the team title with 38 points.

The gesture by the Rosa brothers was similar to what Robby Andrews (Manalapan '09) did at last years Central Jersey state sectionals.  Andrews wore the #2 on his hip for fallen competitor Jason Walton who lost his life a year prior.

On the girls side, soph Caroline Kellner of West Windsor South ran 18:42 and took her first Mercer Co. title with a solid win over West Windsor North's Emily Scott (18:54).  The girls team title went to Aaron Oldfield's Hopewell Valley squad in a 1 point squeaker over unheralded Robbinsville (53-54)
