Boys Meet Recap: New Providence added to its remarkable tradition of excellence by rolling to a 145-101 victory over Union County rival Dayton for its fourth straight title as the Pioneers extended its NJ. Sec. 2 record to 21 titles!!! That's the second most in state history behind the 26 championships won on Central Jersey by Metuchen.

Several athletes scored for the Pioneers with senior Dominick Cardone leading the charge. New Providence also picked up victories in the field from James Agresto in the javelin, Drew Skotarczak in the pole vault, and Thomas Sponauer in the high jump.

Girls Meet Recap: Whippany Park rang up the highest score of any team (boys or girls) in all of the state sectional meets with its 153-117 victory over New Providence. It's the second straight title for the Wildcats, and its seventh overall.

Freshman Jessica Diamond, senior Savanna Marcantonio, and sophomore Kathleen Mulligan led the attack for Whippany Park.

Diamond scored 28 points by winning the 1,600 ad 3,200, and placing second in the 800. The versatile Marcantonio had a sensational all-round meet, winning the javelin and high jump, and placing fifth in the 400 and sixth in the 200. Mulligan, a sophomore, won the long jump, was fourth in the high hurdles, third in the 400 hurdles, and fifth in the high jump.
