Charlotte Bednar Adds 3,200m State Record, Runs Sub-10


Charlotte Bednar added yet another New Jersey state record to her trophy cabinet on Saturday night during the Garden State Twilight Relays.

The Lawrenceville School junior clocked a 9:59.34 over the eight-lap race to take down the state record of 10:10.24 set by Abby Loveys of Randolph at the 2019 Morris County Championships..

The 9:59.34 moves Bednar up to US No. 4 this outdoor season. Only Mia Barnett of CA [9:52.23], Jenna Hutchins of TN [9:52.33], and Brynn Brown of TX [9:59.17] have run faster in 2021.

Bednar has been red hot lately, with several big time performances over the last few weeks. On April 17, she recorded a state record 15:52.10 in the outdoor 5K, which moved her to the No. 5 top spot all-time for high school girls in the US.
