Lilly Shapiro couldn't wait to see how low she could go in her first ever crack at 3200 meters.

After big PR's in cross-country (18:39 at Holmdel Park) and in the 1600m indoors (4:49.52), it was obvious that Shapiro had the potential to drop something big when she toed the line on Friday night at the Cherokee Night Racing meet in Marlton. And that's just what she did as the Colts Neck junior torched the track with a 10:18.36! That's No. 10 in state outdoor history!

Shapiro's 10:18.36, which came in a mixed race with boys, is the fastest 3200m time ever by a girl on South Jersey soil. Her time is actually the ninth fastest 3200m NJ time ever run outdoors, but she's listed at 10th on the NJ all-time list when the faster two-mile times are included.

Shapiro, who hit the 1,600m mark in 5:13.72, ran 5:04.64 for the final 1,600m, and covered the final 800m in 2:26.81, including a 69.10 final 400m!

Here's NJ's updated all-time outdoor list.
