2020 Fall Season Status Hub For New Jersey Cross Country


The status of most things in 2020 and beyond, as we all know, has been a fluid situation with evolving information. This hub highlights the latest information as it relates to New Jersey high school cross country in 2020. We will return to this article and update accordingly as new information releases.

NJSIAA Information

As of this writing, Aug 7th, the July 10th Model 1 remains as the return to play plan. After a virtual contact period of Aug 29th through Sept 13th practice kicks off again Sept 14th. Cross country's regular season starts Oct 1st, regular season ends Nov 12th and NJSIAA Sectionals run Nov 13th through 22nd.

School Districts

  • 8/26 - Blair Academy does not plan on participating in athletic competition for fall 2020. (source)
  • 8/26 - Dwight-Englewood will not participate in fall athletics in 2020. (source)
  • 8/22 - Manchester Regional cancelled fall sports until further notice. (source)
  • 8/21 - Medford Tech & Westampton Tech canelled fall sports for 2020. (source)
  • 8/20 - Leonia HS cancelled fall sports for 2020. (source)
  • 8/18 - Dover HS cancelled fall sports for 2020. (source)
  • 8/14 - Piscataway Twp cancelled fall sports. (source)
  • 8/10 - Teaneck HS suspended fall sports activities. (source)
  • 8/06 - West Windsor Plainsboro Regional School District announced they are canceling fall sports. This ends the fall bids for two of New Jersey's top competing cross country schools, WWP North and WWP South. The WWP North boys are the second ranked returning squad at Holmdel Park from last season. (source & explanation)
  • 7/23 - Carteret Public Schools were the first district to cancel fall sports in New Jersey. They do not field a cross country team, but do have track and field athletes compete in the spring. (source)
