Championship Girls:
This race will feature a matchup of Red Bank Catholic, the NJR #1 Girls team against #4 Toms River North. Throw in Pearl River, the #10 team in New York state and you have a potential barnburner of a team race. Among the individuals in this race, look for Jillian Prentice and Lara Shegoski of Montgomery to put up small numbers at the front with Prentice having a shot at the win , Michelle Capozziand Molly McNamara will lead RBC, which is strong through the lineup. Jacqui Kemmer (TRN) and Maria Kohlbrenner ( Pearl River) lead squads which run very well as packs.
Championship Boys
This will most likely be the race of the day with a number of top guys contending for the top spot. With WW-P No. resting the Rosa twins after their tour de force at Belmont Plateau last weekend, the individual winner well as team champ can come from any number of runnners and schools. the individual race will probably come down to a duel amongst Mike O'Dowd of host Colts Neck, DJ Trornton of Union Catholic,Kevin Byrne of RBC and Jonathan Squeri of WW-P No. On the team side, Red Bank Catholic, the #9 ranked team is the chalk, but there are others that will be in the hunt. CN will have O'Dowd up front giving them a small number for a head start, as will WW-P No. with Squeri. Without Joe and James Rosa, 4th ranked WW-P Po. will have to bunch up the pack.
Just In: DJ Thornton (Union Catholic) will not race due to a minor injury.
