South Group 4 Boys

In an every point matters meet, the Rancocas Valley boys won a tight one over Jackson Memorial, 44 points to 43.33!

Rancocas Valley took gold in two events thanks to Miekel House winning the 55m dash at 6.52 and Jordan Floyd the high jump at 6-02. The rest of their base came from grinding hard earned places for second and third in multiple events.

Daniel Dayrell ran second in the 55m hurdles clocking 7.70 in both finals and prelims. Tahmir Clark complimented Floyd's high jump victory with a second place height of 6-0. Jonah Wood threw 44-08 in the shot put for a season best and 6th place, and Rahmir Patterson ran sixth in the 400m at 52.57.

Rancocas Valley's 4x400m closed the meet with the needed place to stay ahead of Jackson Memorial running third at 3:31.16. Which was definitely needed as Jackson Memorial's 4x4 squad also did what they had to do winning the event at 3:26.79.

We're going to touch on Jackson Memorial's team performance here too with it being such a close meet. Along with that 4x4 win they also took home gold in the shot put at 56-01.5 thanks to Collin McCarthy and the 400m with Zachary Novak running 51.46.

The 400m was huge for Jackson Memorial not only seeing wins in the open and relay but they ran third and fourth in the 400m as well with Jake McKown and Nicholas Mollica at 51.73 and 51.78. Mollica also came back to earn fifth in the 55m hurdles running 8.07. Adam Elkhouly also hit a season best mark of 5-08 in the high jump earning a point in sixth.

South Group 4 Girls

The Kingsway girls led a strong field of Group 4 teams including Egg Harbor Twp and Millville among others wth a total of 58.5 points. Many of those points came from a massive effort by the Pierontoni girls in the distance events. This was the Kingsway girls first Sectional title since earning the South Group 3 in 2015.

Allie Pierontoni put together a special meet sweeping the three distance events with wins in the 800m, 2:21.24, 1600m, 5:04.98, and 3200m, 11:19.46! That 5:04.98 led the entire two weeks of Sectionals meets when merged together, last season she had posted a 5:22.86 at this meet!

Emily Pierontoni finished second in both the 800m and 3200m events running 2:21.72 and 11:26.60 and Aubrey Pierontoni helped their domination of the 3200m running fourth at 11:43.25 and sixth in the 1600m at 5:33.53. What a night!

Also scoring for the Kingsway girls in the pole vault was Allison Bobst clearing 10-0 for second and Erin Kennedy in sixth at 8-0.

South Group 1 Boys

The Audubon boys dominated their meet with a 34 point lead at 71 points scored to win their first Sectional title. They amassed four event wins on Sunday! The golds came in the 55m, 400m, 4x400m, and high jump.

The sprints team brought in major points sweeping the 400m with James Coleman 52.18, Tyler Wilson second at 52.84, and Brandon Gregoire third running 53.04. Coleman came back to win the 55m dash as well clocking 6.78, Wilson fourth in that event at 6.85.

Brandon Gregoire who scored that bronze medal in the 400m sweep showed his multi-event talent running fourth with 2:07.33 in the 800m and then clearing 9-0 for fifth in the pole vault!

Aden Tomeo wow'd the crowd in the high jump clearing the highest height of all the Sectional meets at 6-07. His season best coming in was 6-02! His teammate Timothy Knoll scored sixth at 5-04 as well.

On the distance side Zachary Williams ran third over 1600m at 4:32.02 with a season best, then fifth at 10:10.52 in the 3200m.

Jaquan Mellette threw 38-0 to finish fifth in the shot put.

The South Group 1 Girls meet was a power struggle between Audubon and Collingswood! Both teams amassing 75 points to tie for the Sectional team title.

Collingswood won five different events! Sophie Steidle brought home three of those golds winning the 800m, 2:26.64, 1600m, 5:42.88, and the 3200m, 12:36.56. Two more gold medals came from Emily Wallace who won the 400m dash at 59.86 and 55m hurdles at 9.21. She also earned a silver medal in the 5m dash with a season best 7.51.

Alivia Stocklin and Emily Owens brought in five more points in the high jump placed fourth and sixth at 4-06.

The field points kept coming, in the shot put Morgan Hearn finished 2nd throwing a season best 31-06, and Madelynn Spink brought in a point in sixth at 29-0.
