Just days after clearing 16-00.5 to move up to eighth all-time in state pole vault history outdoors, Bradley Jelmert of Watchung Hills moved up his ever increasing PR to 16-01.5 to take full control of fifth all-time in New Jersey.
This happened on Saturday during the North 2 Group 4 Sectional Championships where he not only became the Sectional Champ but also broke the combined Sectionals meet record of 15-07 held by Brandon Kurtz fo Absegami since 1991 and Jordan Subai of Toms River South since 2010.
2019 State Pole Vault Rankings
Could we see him crack the top four before season's end? He has the momentum to say this isn't out of the range of possibility. And he is just a junior!
He entered this season with an outdoor PR of 14-01.25, though he did clear 15-07.25 this past indoors, and now sits an entire two feet higher with big opportunities still to go. He was second this past winter at the Meet of Champions and has certainly emerged as the current favorite going into this spring's title bout.
We'll have to see what indoor MOCs winner Liam Landau, Nico and Marco Morales, Conor Reilly, and company have to say about it comes go time.. but in any case just like during winter this pole vault season is pushing the New Jersey charts!
