Move out of the way! On Monday during the Armory Youth Championships in New York, NY the 15 year old Trenton TC track star Athing Mu ran an absolute wicked 800m US No. 1 time of 2:06.88. Moving her up to third all-time in New Jersey indoor history and 16th all-time on the national list. She is the only girl to break 2:10 so far this season.
Her splits: 29.403 (29.403), 59.912 (30.509), 1:30.332 (30.421), 2:06.880 (36.549)
This 800m run was a major PR for the sophomore who's very best previously was a 2:07.18 to win at last summer's AAU National Club Championships and her indoor time was 2:10.61 from last year's Colgate Womens Games.
Not only that but she took over the state lead in the 200m as well with a 24.74, NJ#1 US#32, running all alone in the 15 to 16 years old division. The next fastest in her heat was 27.52! Second place in her 800m race was over 15 seconds behind.
Mu, who keeps her focus on club competition, is placing herself with some pretty big names on our all-time New Jersey list. The only two ahead of her include Olympians Joetta Clark-Diggs at 2:06.00 and Ajee' Wilson 2:04.13!
