Lavino Relays Viewer's Guide | Fast Times and Border State Showdowns


Below are highlights on some great race videos to watch from the Lavino Relays, plenty of which include a border showdown between teams from Pennsylvania and New Jersey. 

This article is primarily focused on the track videos but some field events to note from this meet include... a NJ#7 39-9 in the girls shot put by Peyton Schanckenberg of Montgomery... Julia Dannenbaum matched her season best NJ#2 height of 12-0 in the pole vault.

Boys 4x800 Meter - NJ vs PA Kick to the Line

In the boys 4x800 meter Central Bucks West (PA) an Hopewell Valley went head to head for US#2 and US#3 times. After working their way back into the race and kicking strong to the finish Bucks West crossed the line first at 8:04.75 and Hopewell Valley second 8:05.44.

Boys DMR - NJ vs PA XC Champ Schools

A match up noticed by PennTrackXC Editor Dan Beck heading into the meet, the battle of cross country State Champions. The New Jersey Group 4 and Meet of Champions winning school of Princeton and Pennsylvania AAA State Champs Council Rock North set to go head to head in a distance relay.

After Council Rock North took out an early lead Pennsbury (PA) and Princeton battled back to compete for first during the 1600 meter leg. Princeton's Alex Roth took over the race and never looked back bringing home the win and a US#4 time of 10:39.68. Council Rock North finished 10:44.28 US#11 and Pennsbury 10:45.15 US#13

West Windsor Plainsboro South Girls Dominate the Track

The West Windsor Plainsboro South girls put on a show winning three track relays, two by a large margin. First they took the 4x51.5 meter shuttle hurdles win edging out Notre Dame 37.19 to 37.55, you can watch that race above.

Then in the 4x800 meter the girls in green and yellow took the race out all alone winning at 9:55.69 NJ#7, almost 30 seconds ahead of the field (watch here). Then lastly in the distance medley (watch here) they once again flexed their distance prowess with a 12:59.43 NJ#9, a solid 16 second win.

The Lawrenceville School Gets SMR 'W' at Home

The Lawrenceville School girls brought their school a win on the track at their home invitational running 4:22.95 NJ#5 US#18 in the sprint medley relay. The squad got out to an early lead and then Jesse Brewer brought it home with a solid last 800 meters.

Hunterdon Central Girls Take 4x400 From Late Heat

The Hunterdon Central 4x400 meter girls stepped onto the track three heats into the event. During a meet that runs fast to slow with its heats this was a surprising run all alone. Hunterdon Central let their heat behind running a 4:17.84 for the win, at the time West Windsor Plainsboro North led the meet with a 4:21.38 from heat one.
