Seeing Sydney McLaughlin's talent during hurdle races is a treat for any track and field fan and she didn't disappoint on Sunday during the 400 meter hurdles.
The outstanding New Jersey freshmen defended her national title in the event with a 55.87, over a second faster than her winning freshman performance a year ago. This fantastic time was also a national sophomore record.
Somehow this wasn't a NJ state record... and you want to know why? Because she already set a faster time last year at the USATF Junior Championships! During the summer of 2014 she placed second with a state record US#2 all time performance of 55.63. At the time she was actually too young to make the World Junior team despite qualifying.
