Girls Championship
Lauren Zodl of Pinelands Regional defended her 2013 individual title with another championship this time running 18:14 on a wet day at Ocean County Park. Last year she was the second girl from Pinelands HS to win in the history of the meet, the previous time occuring in 1996 when Amy Beykirch won with a time of 18:02. Zodl held off Abby Gauthier of Lacey Twp in second with a time of 18:18. Check out the list of the top ten finishers below.

On the team side Toms River North won their fifth Ocean County title in the last seven years! The girls scored 4-12-13-14-25 for 68 points and a team average of 19:39. North was led by Madyson Reilly in fourth with a time of 18:35, then a close pack really sealed the deal after her taking places 13th-15th. Alexa Fotopoulos placed 13th with 19:45, Grace Cocanower 14th 19:46, and Krystina George 15th 19:49. Closing out the victory was Danielle DeSantis in 26th with a time of 20:23. All in all a 1 minute and 48 second split.

Boys Championship
Kyle Mueller puts Brick Memorial in the spotlight winning the first individual title for the school since Andrew Brodeur in 2007, who ran 15:34. Mueller posted a ten second lead on the rest of the pack with a 15:35, his best Ocean County Championship performance ever. Mueller hasn't placed outside of the top three in any of the seven races he's competed in so far this season.
Right after Mueller in second was JP Flavin of Toms River North with a time of 15:45, this is key because his two card set off what would become a team championship for Toms River North. With 59 points and a team average of 16:26 the TR North boys cross the line scoring 2-9-11-14-23 with a 1:09 split. This would complete a sweep by the school with the girls winning the girls championship as mentioned above!
The rest of the winning squad's top five came through as follows: Justin Farley 9th 16:21, Christian Bermudez 11th 16:31, Noah Reilly 14th 16:42, and Anthony Vela 23rd 16:54. Nice work Toms River North!
