HURDLES

If you don't know, now you know. Sydney McLaughlin is indeed a freshman but she doesn't perform like a typical one. She is the state leader in the 100m hurdles this season, and before Nationals where she took second she was undefeated in both finals and prelims going 5-0. At the meet of champions during her 100 meter hurdles she broke the national record for 14 year olds and it was only the trials! She advanced to finals with her time of 13.62 and then sealed the deal with a 13.47 to win gold.

Athlete Profile - Freshman

Season Best - 55.63 / Personal Best - 55.63

She also leads the state in the 400 meter hurdles where she went 7-0 on the season including a victory at Nationals. Just over this past weekend she raced at the USATF Junior Championships and took second but went US#2 all time and set a state record in the event with a 55.63!! She would have qualified for team USA but is too young since she is still only 14 years old. The chances that the national record goes down in the next three years are starting to boil. Purely amazing.
