Here is the race video from the 2015 Bergen Meet of Champions.
Always a big day for Bergen County as their annual Group Championships took place at Darlington Park on Saturday as the athletes battled to see who advances to the Bergen Meet of Champions. This meet merge will take all the different group races and combine them into one list and score.
Indian Hills, the current NJ#4 ranked boys team in the state, continued their great season leading the meet merge overall. In their Group B race they actually swept the top five spots scoring a perfect 15 points, in the merge with all the races that total only increased to 39. Starting with Tom Holster who ran the second fastest time of the meet at 15:53, the Indian Hills squad averaged 16:03 and split only 21 seconds between their top five!
Ridgewood, the Group A winners, took second in the merge with 66 points beating out Don Bosco, the Group E winners, who were in third overall by 1 point. In the individual boys merge Bogota's Danny Daurio posted a 15:51 in the Group D race making him the fastest of the meet. Daurio started a top five sweep for Bogota in their group race as well.
For the girls team merge, Northern Highlands out scored Ridgewood 84 to 96. They both met in the Group A race where the scores were 40-44 with Northern Highlands still on top. Northern Highlands' junior Monica Hebner led the way for her squad running the sixth fastest time of the meet at 19:25.
Individually there were three girls under 19 minutes, the fastest being sophomore Mackenzie Hughes of the Academy of Holy Angels. She dropped almost a minute from her 2015 performance at this meet! Olympia Martin of Ridgewood was second overall with her Group A winning time of 18:54, and Madeline Barney the star freshman of Indian Hills ranked third with her 18:59 win from Group B.
