GIRLS

100- Junior Sydney Hawkins of Phillipsburg leads the way with the 11.93 she ran to finish first at the Skyland Conference Championships. Hawkins, the Indoor Meet of Champions winner in the 55 dash, ois the only sub 12 runner in the state. The next fastest sprinters in NJ are Icisys Sadler of Summit (12.19), State Prep B champion Michelle Kwafo of Stuart Day (12.20),  Atlantic County champion and Indoor M of C 55 dash runner-up  Lauren Princz of Egg Harbor (12.27), and Union County champion Sydney Tucker of Union Catholic (12.29).

200-Sydney Hawkins is also the state leader in the half-lapper by virtue of the 24.48 she ran to win the Skyland Conference title, but don't forget about Shakira Dancy of Winslow, who won the half-lapper at the M of C and has a PR of 23.85. Dancy is NJ #8 right now at 24.96, but that should drop this weekend.

Right on her heels of Hawkiins is Aliyah Taylor of Rancocas Valley, who ran 24.61 back at the Lenape Invit. on April 14. Taylor won 55 dash at the Indoor Meet of Champions  as a sophomore two years ago, and captured the 200 at the Indoor M of C in 2017.  Portia Jones of Watchung Hills is the next fastest at 24.67, then its Union County champ Sadler (24.70), GMC and Indoor  of C winner Shauntae Nelson of Piscataway (24.84), and then Union Catholic's Khamil Evans (24.89).

400- Kaira Brown of Kent Place, the Indoor M of C winner and third last spring at the M of C, is NJ #1 with the 55.36 she ran to won the Union County title by an eyelash over Victoria Vanriele of Gov. Livingston (NJ #2 55.38). It's unlikely that Vanriele will run the 400 at the M of C because she will probably just focus on attempting to win her second straight 800 title.

The top returning finisher from the M of C last year is Reanda Richards of West Essex, who has run a NJ #3 55.84 this season but owns a PR of 54.98 form when she placed second at the M of C last spring. The only other runner in the state under 56.00 this season is Khamil Evans with a 55.87. Just like the 200, keep an eye on Shakira Dancy to make a big move up the state leader board in the 400. She's run just 57.67 this season, but has a PR of 54.36.

100 HH- Icisys Sadler is the state season leader with the 14.08 she ran to win the Union County title, but the fastest hurdler in the state is another athlete from Union County, Amaya Chadwick of Union Catholic. Chadwick, who missed most of the indoor seaosn with a hamstring injury before returning to action last month, has a PR of 13.86 and has finished second at the M of C the last two years. Chadwick is currently NJ #3 with the 14.46 she ran to win the SJ, Non-Public A title earlier this week. Sitting at NJ #2 is Reanda Richards of West Essex at 14.36.

400 IH- With the legendary Sydney McLaughlin having graduated after winning this event at the M of C for four straight years, the door is finally open for a new champion. Reanda Richards of West Essex is the overwhelming favorite to win it all. She is the only athlete to go under 62 this spring with a NJ #1 59.17. Richards was second at the M of C last year and has a PR of 59.09. The next fastest this season is Aliya Rae Garozzo of Paul VI, the SJ, Non-Public A winner in 1:02.37. She is followed by Union County winner Zamira Ysaac of Union Catholic (1:02.46), and Bergen County champ Katherine Muccio of Ridgewood (1:02.50)
