US #1 CBA tops short-handed US #4 La Salle at Bowdoin Brandon Miles Sep 28, 2014

At the Bowdoin XC Classic, the US #1 CBA boys came out on top 41 to 54 in the clash with US #4 La Salle Academy, while La Salle was missing one key runner Jack Salisbury from the race due to illness. CBA still was impressive in their team win with a 28 second spread for their top 5.

The last time Haddonfield’s Jon Vitez took the baton for the anchor leg of the distance medley relay, he felt great for the first few steps. Then his baton hit the runner’s foot to his outside and the stick clink-clinking to the infield, blowing the race and robbing spectators of a showdown between Vitez and West Orange’s Curtis Richburg.

Behind Jon Vitez' convincing 15:42 win, Haddonfield scored 54 points for the victory. CBA, which remains at #2,  placed 3rd in the same race, scoring 67 points despite an under the weather Mike Mazzaccaro. Runner of The Week Lanie Thompson (Sr. / Voorhees)     The winner of the Eastern States Girls Race, Lanie ran 14:12.79 on the famed Van Cortlandt Park layout.
