Meet Information
CCeXCiTe Overview:
The Camden County Cross Country Tour (CCeXCiTe) is a series of youth/open races that challenge athletes with a wide range of terrains at various county parks. This is a unique approach, so we ask all who are interested to understand that we are seeking to increase access to the sport while also maintaining the integrity of high level competition. These meets will look a little different than what anyone has experienced, and we hope all will appreciate the extra work involved in meeting several goals.
In general, this series is meant to be developmental and inclusive, providing a high quality competition experience for kids to learn about the sport and themselves, regardless of their current ability or skill level. Please check back as we are still determining the individual events that will be staged at each meet.
Fee:
The individual race fee is $15, and teams will only pay a maximum of $100 for each race they attend, regardless of the number of kids participating.
Fun Awards:
The exact awards are being determined.
Race #1, Pennypacker Park, Haddonfield:
Challenge Grove is a multi-use park that combines an open grass field start and finish, some macadam trail, wooded and single-rack hard pack trails, and some technical elevation changes. There is plenty of parking in the park along the main drive, and also in a gravel lot about halfway down the main drive.
Races will be run as mixed gender and age. One race per distance. Awards will be given and results will be posted by gender.
Schedule: First race, the 1K, will start promptly at 9:00am, with a rolling schedule to follow. The 1-Mile will start at approximately 9:15, and the 1.5-Mile will start at approximately 9:40.
Race #3, SJTFC Cross Country Festival, Pennypacker Park, Haddonfield
Home to many high school dual meets and invitationals, Pennypacker Park has a rich cross country history. This meet will serve as our season finale, "championship" meet, and we will also dedicate the meet to the great Haddonfield coach, Nick Baker. Nick passed away last fall, just weeks after leading his team to their record-breaking 245th consecutive dual meet victory on this very course. The is a relatively flat course along the tranquil banks of the Cooper River. There is a small parking lot near the race course, but parking on the narrow North Park Drive is permitted. There is another gravel lot about 1/4 mile from the course on Hopkins Lane.
This event features multiple races to encourage newer and younger runners to participate.
