Dispatches From Portland - Mixed Day for New Jersey @ NXN

Bushwhacked on the Oregon Trail

Tough Day for Most Jersers @ NXN

The cover photo tells it all as regards the weather at Portland (OR) Meadows Race Track as the NXN Champioonships were run in what was described by a race official as a "quagmire".

The NXN Championships were not kind to the New Jersey contingent as the Garden Staters, coming off  of a particulary tough end of the year due to the well documented travails caused by Sandy.

Results of the Championship Races are posted and full Meet coverage can be found HERE

The Open / Community race was first off  (Results) and  Freshmas Blaise Ferro of CBA was the highest Jerser finisher, taking 8th in 18:21. As a further testament as to course conditions, Ferro has a SB of 16:37 (Run at Holmdel!)

In the Girls Championship Race, Voorhees, who stormed to the MOC title on 11/21 and then Q'd for Portland at the NE Regional on 11/24 ran tough, but it was not their day as the Lady Vikings finished 22nd.

The biggest shocker of the day, to the NJ faithful, was the 4th place finsh by defending NXN champs CBA. The Colts took 4th (not too shabby) and had a 24-25 finish by Billy Bragg (17:44) and Jack Boyle (17:45).
