The ESPN-Gatorade New Jersey AOY award for Outdoor Track & Field is the latest accolade that East Brunswick HS star Sam Mattis will be takng with him to the next level. The University of Pennsylvania bound Mattis adds this honor to a long list of outstanding accomplishments this year.
* Mattis won the Discus at the 2012 Penn relays, throwing 211-11 and was named Outstanding Athlete - Individual Events for his performance
* Sam broke the State Record for the Discus Throw, spinning the plate a whopping 218-4 at the Middlesex Conference Relays in early May
* Continuing his success, he "threepeated in his signature event at the NJSIAA Meetof Champions (206-0)
* With his 2nd consecutive National Championship in the Discus (203-2), Sam Mattis put the cherry on top of the sundae that has been his prep career.
