XC Runners of the Week - Miles Schoedler / Joelle Amaral

Runners of the Week - Sept. 4-11

The first week of the seaosn is often a feeling out period. A chance to shake out the cobwebs and get your racing legs back. Well, someone forgot to tell some of NJ's standout distance runners as there were quite a few outstanding performances over the kick off weekend.

Amaral got her season off to a roaring start by dominating the "A" race at the Randolph Invitational on the Freedom Park course last Friday night. Rocketing out from the gun, Joelle did not have to look back as her closest pursuer finished almost a minute back. Amarals time of 18:17.06 makes her the #4 girl all-time at Freedom Park.

It took a kickers sprint to shake off Haddonfield's Ben Potts in the senior event at the Cherokee Challenge, but Schoedler got the job done and broke the CR while doing it. Schoedlers time of 9:28 broke the 1 year old mark of 9:33 set by Jon "Boo" Vitez of Haddonfield
