Live Action All Day At The Bubble - CJ & SJ Group 2 and 3

Jump to the live blog of Central and South Group 3

It's 7:50am and I'm sitting in The Bubble having the best Pork Roll and Cheese sandwich made in Toms River (from Luigi's Deli), waiting for a very long day to start

CJ Group 2 could see some of the fastest sprints out of the Sectionals with Long Branch's MIles Shuler-Foster the current NJ #1 in the 55m with a time of 6.41 on this very track, the current Group 2 sectional record in the 55m is held by Raldaine McDonald (Dwigh Morrow) set in 2008, which is almost certain to go down

also Raritan's Bennett Jackson, who will play football for Notre Dame next year is the top seeded hurdler coming into the meet and #3 in the state with a posted time of 7.53.

Ajee Wilson, the CJ Group 2 leader in the 800m, and 1600m will also be in action this fine Valentine's Day morning.  Nobody in either event will be seeded within 10 seconds of Wilson

SJ Group 2 also has a fast hurdler, in fact the #1 hurdler in New Jersey with a time of 7.46 which is already faster than the Group 2 sectional record of 7.49 set by Kevon Brown of West Deptford last year.

This afternoon's meet (CJ & SJ Group 3) is sure to see some fireworks, Tylia Gillon (Jackson Memorial) can burn around the track for 400m.  Look for her to drop below 58. and be among the state's best.  Also the state's best high jumper will be in action, Emily Kianka of Hopewell Valley, she'll be looking to clear 5-10 (a height she has already cleared this indoor season however, it was in a tri-meet)

Not to mention those two runners from West Windsor North will be running.

Our first Sectional champion of the day, Kat Frye (Pt. Boro) in the 400m with a hand-timed 59.6

Brianna Crofton (Delsea) takes the SJ G2 400m in 1:00.3 unofficially

Ben Raskin (Summit) takes the CJ G2 400m in 51.1.  Raskin made a decisive move on the inside to pass Ewing's Daryl Ansley in the final 15 meters to take the victory.  Matawan's Brian Ramcheran took 2nd after swinging wide to pass Ansley

Ben Raskins is DQ'd in the 400m, In my opinion he SHOULDN'T be.  Ansley gave him the inside, they both bumped elbows, as it happens sometimes, and Ansley went down.

The officials who called the DQ on Raskin are saying he threw a flagrant elbow to get by Ansley.  Did he?  I don't think so.  It was a tight move to go inside but it was enough and Raskin was going to win regardless.  Ansley died over the final 40m and Raskin was coming hard.  Nevertheless Raskin is out the of state tournament for now

Just found out the MOC 55h final will be missing one of the state's top sprinters.  Bennett Jackson (Raritan) is walking around with a boot on his foot and will not be running.  Nevertheless, he is here rooting his team on.  Jackson will be out till atleast the Indoor Nationals where he could be running at NSIC in NY

An interesting turn of events in the Boys CJ G2 400m.  The officials let Ansley (Ewing) do a re-run BY HIMSELF and he runs 51.3 hand-timed which is pretty close to winning the event and Ben Raskin is SITLL DQ'd.
