It was just matter of time before Christian Brothers Academy left a lot of smoke on the track in the DMR.
That time came on Wednesday night when the Colts loaded up their DMR for the first time this season and took over the No. 1 spot in the nation by stopping the clock at 10:05.21, which is No. 7 in NJ history, at the LaSalle Winter Series at the Ott Center in Philly.
In a race that saw the 8 fastest times in the nation run, CBA was near the front the whole way before anchor Joe Barrett blitzed the competition with a 4:10.63 split to lock up the win for the Colts. LaSalle College was second in 10:09.74.
CBA's first three splits were 3:06.96 for 1,200 by junior Luke Hnatt, 49.45 for 400 by senior Colin Burke, and 1:58.18 for 800 by junior Wyatt Falkowski, who handed off to Barrett in second place.
Before this race, the US No. 1 time this season was 10:17.27 by Colts Neck. But now Colts Neck is No. 9 in the nation after the parade of hot times in this race.
After CBA and LaSalle College, Haddonfield was third in 10:11.61, North Penn was fourth in 10:12.07, Westfield took fifth in 10:13.96, Central Bucks placed sixth in 10:17.17, Episcopal Academy placed seventh in 10:17.17, and Ridge was eighth in 10:17.23.
